Working together to improve heart care for women

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide in both men and women. Yet, women have historically been underrepresented in cardiovascular research studies. This has led to significant knowledge gaps in the understanding of heart disease in women. Our team is dedicated to closing important knowledge gaps regarding the molecular mechanisms underlying differences between men and women with heart disease. We do this by specifically focusing on the inclusion of women with heart disease in research studies, studying vascular tissue by sex, and translating this knowledge into new biomarkers that support the early diagnosis of heart disease in female patients.
