Tim Sakkers has been selected as one of the seventeen researches for the prestigious Faculty of Impact programme by Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO).

The Faculty of Impact supports researchers who want to translate their scientific discoveries into meaningful societal and economic impact. It will be an intensive two-year programme, in which he will receive personalized coaching and entrepreneurial training to develop the skills needed to transform their research into scalable commercial or social start-ups. The programme focuses on value proposition development, stakeholder engagement, business modelling, funding strategies, intellectual property, and leadership.

By bridging the gap between academia and implementation, the Faculty of Impact empowers researchers to turn innovative science into real-world solutions. Helping us to develop a diagnostic blood test to improve the diagnosis of patients with Angina (chest pain) with No Obstructive Coronary Arteries (ANOCA), a condition that predominantly affects women. Currently, the only way to diagnose ANOCA is through a highly invasive and expensive procedure that is perceived as painful by patients, leading many cardiologists and patients to avoid the test altogether. However, the absence of a clear diagnosis often leaves patients facing years of uncertainty, repeated hospital visits, and ineffective treatments. Our goal is to change this by developing a fast, non-invasive, and affordable test for detecting ANOCA.
